Biscuits and Gravy

It’s officially potluck season. Our office had a breakfast potluck last week, which was a huge hit. People love breakfast foods. We had casseroles, pastries, fruits, yogurts, French toast—you name it. I wasn’t hungry all day.

My contribution to the potluck was biscuits and gravy. I cheated and used Pillsbury southern style biscuits with this gravy recipe. I used skim milk for the gravy recipe, which worked great. You couldn’t tell at all it was skim.

They turned out great. The gravy was a little spicy from the sausage I used, and it came out very thick and luscious.

I prepared everything the night before and transferred the gravy into my crockpot before work so it could warm up.

I actually never had biscuits and gravy until recently. I loved biscuits too much on their own and didn’t want to ruin them, but I realized that gravy is so delicious on biscuits! It makes the hard edges moist and gives a ton of flavor. Now I’m hooked.

Wedding dress shopping was so much fun. At first I was really overwhelmed by all the selection and trying to figure out what I wanted, but I had a great time trying on all the pretty gowns. It helps that I had a great, supportive group of people there with me. At our first appointment, I though I had found “the one.” I loved it and it was so lovely, but I had really wanted to try on a Maggie Sottero dress, which was only at the second appointment. The last dress we had in the dressing room at the second place ended up being the one I absolutely adored. I didn’t want to take it off, and I couldn’t stop beaming. Although I loved the first one, I just felt completely different in the second one. I decided to put down my deposit there and I got done with dress shopping in one day! I’m excited to have one thing checked off my list.

Do you like biscuits and gravy?

I love biscuit and gravy together. It’s delicious!
I’m glad you got done shopping for your wedding dress! Can’t wait to see it! :)

  2. I’ve never had biscuits and gravy but sometimes my parents would make gravy for their toast and eggs and it was soo good! :)

  3. I’m from the south, so I definitely have a soft spot of biscuits…although I’ve never been a big gravy fan. My wedding dress was almost more about the search, which was just as special as the actual end result. Savor every moment! (And take LOTS of pictures :-) )

  4. That’s so exciting about your wedding dress!!

I love biscuts and gravy. It’s a southern dish my Mom makes all the time. :) I didn’t have a wedding, wedding we just went to the court house. I had an expensive honeymoon to The Most Magical Place on Earth.

  6. Yay! I’m so happy that you found your wedding dress! It’s definitely one of the best feelings to know that you have picked out your gown since it’s a really important aspect of the wedding. I cannot wait to see what style you chose :) It’s torture that my dress and veil are hanging in my mom’s closet. I want to wear it so badly!

  7. I love b&g! I grew up on the stuff. I prefer bacon as a side, but I like sausage gravy. It’s always hard to decide which to make.

  8. Wee that is so exciting about your dress! My dream dress is a ballgown style one….fit on the body, with a beautiful white shirt

  9. I’m not a big fan of gravy, but I loove biscuits! :)
    Yay for finding your dress!

I never eat biscuits and gravy, but they are tasty. They’re just not a big thing where I’m from!

  11. I love biscuits and gravy! My dad makes a mean b&g recipe and I’m looking forward to having it for breakfast when I’m home this holiday weekend!

I’m not a huge fan of gravy. I think it stems from my “no food can touch each other” issue. When I pour gravy, it is inevitable that it will seep to other dishes on my plate.

My dream dress is the one I bought. It tied all the things I was looking for into one gown!

Congrats on finding your dream dress- it’s such a great feeling, isn’t it?! Mine was the very first one I tried on. I wanted to buy it right then and there! My mom made me try on a bunch more at some other stores, but I ended up going back to that very first one. I’m so excited you found it!
