Yesterday’s lunch featured my eternal life debate: pad Thai or curry? I love Thai food—lately, even more so than sushi, which is huge. It’s so hard for me to choose between pad Thai and curry, and I always leave wanting the other. Both are so delicious.
My friend Katie introduced me to a Thai place I hadn’t been to called Thai Café in downtown Orlando. It’s a hole-in-the-wall place with not very many tables and not a lot of pizazz. They don’t even have a website.
The place was simple and unassuming, but the food tasted just as good as any other Thai place I have been to. Everything had a lot of traditional flavors, and the prices were extremely reasonable.
We started out with an order of summer rolls because all Thai meals should start with peanut sauce.

They have daily specials, which I took advantage of. One of their specials was the yellow curry, which as a part of the special came with spring rolls and ginger salad.

The spring rolls were good but were nothing compared to the summer rolls. I just adore summer rolls.

I chose tofu as my protein with my curry, and I was pleased that there was plenty of tofu throughout. The curry was very good, although a little milder in seasonings than other curries I’ve had. That didn’t stop me from cleaning my plate. I love when the rice soaks up all the curry sauce.
Katie ordered Penang curry with chicken.

I was stuffed well into the evening after our filling lunch.
Summer rolls or spring rolls?

I’m gonna have to say summer rolls! With a little mint leaf in there, and omg that peanut sauce!
What road is Thai Cafe on? I’ve never heard of it (gasp) and I’m a HUGE thai fan too!
It’s on Magnolia kind of near Mills. If you Google it, the address should come up even if they don’t have a website. Let me know if you try it! Have you been to Napasorn? That’s my favorite Thai place in downtown Orlando.
I was going to ask the same thing. Napasorn is walking distance from my office, but I am always looking for new places to try. Napasorn is awesome, but wrangling my co-workers into trying “ethnic” food is not. What can I say? I work with a bunch of dudes.
Oh man. Summer rolls for sure. Those things rock me Amadeus. < —- I can come up with 80s sayings all day.
My personal trainer is Vietnamese and she makes the most amazing summer rolls and homemade peanut sauce. And Pho too. Ok, everything she makes pretty much makes me want to leave my husband for her.
I’m also a summer rolls kinda girl. I think they taste so much fresher and lighter!
I love thai food, maybe even more than sushi! I have a hard time deciding between curry and pad thai too. They are both of my favorite! Your curry looks very similar to the one I got last week. I’m craving it now just looking at it.
Also, I love summer roll better (I actually call them spring roll and the fried one egg rolls Haha) because I love the peanut sauce that it comes with.
I’ve been on the lookout for a good Thai place in Orlando! Will & I are huge fans but we left our favorite place back home in Miami.
And definitely summer rolls all the way. I LOVE wrapping things in rice paper
I’ve never had Thai food before! I’ve always wanted to try it though. It looks so good!
I’ve never had a summer roll so once I do I might change my mind so for now I’ll say spring roll.
I LOVE summer rolls. In fact, I’m getting some today from the Vietnamese restaurant I frequent!
What’s your favorite Thai place? I need to venture out and try some new Thai places in Orlando — I’ve only been to Thai Singha (in Waterford – really good) and Royal Thai (which everyone raves about, but I was “eh” on).
Summer rolls, all the way. I can’t wait to get home to my favorite thai food restaurant.
I like egg rolls!! : )
You can’t go wrong with summer rolls, bites of delicious goodness everytime!
Summer Rolls all the way and for me it’s always a decision between Pad Thai and Pad Sea Eew. I loooove Thai!
I randomly came across your blog…in fact I’m not really even sure how I landed here! I just wanted to say I love the name “sushi and sit-ups”!
Aaaand now I want Thai food
Mmm…red curry.
I had thai food last night and my favorite was the summer rolls… basically just for the peanut sauce lol. I ate it with a spoon and covered my rice in it.
Spring rolls all the way
