Humidity has been lower lately in Orlando, which gave Kevin and I a great opportunity to sit outside last night and have a nice dinner out. We headed to one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants, La Bella Luna, in Baldwin Park. It’s a small pizzeria and Italian restaurant. We always get really good service, and I love their Bolognese sauce. They also have really good egg noodles.
We started out with the standard bread basket. It was light and chewy but could have used more garlic. Then again, I think everything could use more garlic.

Kevin ordered pepperoni pizza. Their pizza is really good. The dough is airy and light, and their sauce has a lot of seasoning.

I went against my usual order of egg fettuccini with Bolognese sauce and decided to try something new: Stuffed Penne Carolina. It came with a choice of soup or salad, and I opted for roasted asparagus soup.

The soup was good but could have used more asparagus flavor. It was very creamy and rich, but I was hankering for some asparagus.
My pasta was decent but a little on the oily side. It had little penne pastas stuffed with ricotta in white wine sauce with artichoke hearts, tomatoes and sliced mushrooms.

The pockets of ricotta were really good, but I wish the sauce was a little lighter and less oily. I think that next time I’ll stick to my old reliable.
Do you tend to order the same favorites at restaurants or do you like try something new each time? I’m always trying to order new things and try new dishes, but I think I’ll be sticking to my favorite at La Bella Luna.

“Everything could use more garlic”… quote of my life
I can put a whole head into a dish and feel like it’s not garlicy enough! I just chalk it up to my Italian upbringing.
Ha I have to go ahead and agree with Faith… that is a quote in my life as well
I tend to order the same things. I should try and branch out a bit next time!
That bread looks light and fluffy! Yum!
If I have a favorite at a restaurant, I will typically order the same thing. I only try something different if I’m feeling adventurous.
Once I find something that I like at a restaurant, it’s SO hard for me to change it up
I try my best to for variety’s sake
It depends on the restaurant for me. If I branch out once and it’s not great I won’t typically do it again. If I go to a place and I like several items on the menu I will continue to try new things. I think I have a fear of my meal letting me down.
Ohhh that bread looks awesome, thats totally my weakness!
I usually order something new except for our local thai restaurant where i always get the same thing EVERY time, i’m terrified to order something else for fear it won’t taste as good as my emerald chicken curry, lol!!!
