Greens, Goddess…and a GIVEAWAY

Tuesdays are always the roughest day of the week for me. Although I dread Mondays when the weekend is coming to an end, I feel like I’m always far more exhausted on Tuesdays and reach the apex of longing for the weekend again. Does anyone else have a rough time waking up on Tuesdays? Well hopefully I can brighten yours with my blog’s first-ever giveaway! But first you have to read about my recent eats.

Since Kevin’s late-night working has continued into this week, I needed another go-to dinner for one. I’ve been hankering for a giant salad that would keep me full. Although I’m a meat-eater, this salad happens to be vegetarian. I try to go meatless for some meals to help balance the meat I do eat.

I layered on my plate:

And then topped it with Annie’s Goddess salad dressing.

Annie's

Holy deliciousness. It was yummy and filling. The Morningstar “chicken” goes really well with the Goddess dressing. I love a hearty salad.

Giveaway

It is no secret that I love OpenSky. If you’ve never heard of it, it’s what they call “Twitter for shopping.” You can follow celebrity curators, which gives you access to their favorite things on sale. Blog superstars Kath, Tina and Gina are all curators, and so are various actors, models, etc. I scored a great deal on BIC Bands through OpenSky and recently bought my newest obsession: stainless steel straws.

straw

Drinking through a straw is just more fun. Through OpenSky and curator Lulu Powers, I bought a bundle of eight stainless steel straws and a cleaner made by Stainless Cups. They’re great for the environment and make your drink taste even colder. I especially love them for summertime cocktails, iced coffee and motivating me to drink more water.

About two weeks after I received my shipment from OpenSky, I received a second shipment from them. I opened it to see what it was and realized it was my exact same order again. I called OpenSky to tell them they had shipped it to me twice, and they told me not to worry about shipping it back, so I decided that I am going to pass it on to one of you! OpenSky has awesome customer service, so I wanted to make sure to share that.

What you get:

  • 4-9.5” long straws
  • 4-7” long straws
  • 1-straw cleaning brush

laid out straws

According to Stainless Cups’ website, this is a $22 value. The straws are made of stainless steel so they won’t rust and are dishwasher safe.

To enter:

Leave a comment on this post with what your favorite drink would be to use the straw for. This giveaway will be open for one week until next Tuesday, August 30 at midnight eastern daylight time. I’ll use Random.org to select a winner. That’s it!

Note: Each straw and cleaner is individually wrapped, but the paper bag they all came in is open from when I was investigating what came in the mail. Also, this is only open to U.S. residents.

P.S. If you want to sign up for OpenSky, feel free to do so through this link, which gives me credit for referring you.

I hope you’re as excited about this giveaway as I am!

  1. I would make a dark chocolate almond milk Visalus shake with a scoop of peanut butter blended in. It tastes like a Reeses peanut butter cup sucked through a straw. It tastes good and is good for you.

  2. A pitcher of craft beer!

Oh and seriously, we need to hang out. Been living dt for 2 months and we haven’t hung out even once!

  3. Count me in! I’d plop it straight into a green smoothie – one with peanut butter and coffee as the base!

  4. Tuesdays are for the birds! :-P
Those straws sound cool! I’d drink my fresh juices with them!

  5. How awesome of you to use the extras as a giveaway :) I would use this for blowing bubbles in chocolate milk, of course. Old school style!

  6. Cool giveaway!! I’d use it for iced coffee :)

  7. oh, fun giveaway! i would totally use it for iced coffee! or ice water…cold stuff hurts my teeth!

  8. Ivy

I would LOVE to use these straws for my homemade smoothies made with fresh berries, apple bananas, pineapple juice & protein powder! I ALWAYS use straws & hate that it causes so much waste. These would be perfect!!!

  9. I’ve been meaning to try the Annie’s Goddess dressing! Thanks for the reminder :D and good review!

  10. I’d use the straws for my smoothies! PS I love Annie’s Goddess dressing!

  11. I think my husband would love these straws for his Keurig Green Mountain French Vanilla iced coffees! I would probably use them for water or fruit juice.

  12. Shelly

I would use the straws for margaritas by the pool :)

  13. Haha – we really did have like the SAME exact salad! Yours looks incredible and almost makes me regret having a sandwich for lunch now!

  14. Billie

A delicious green monster. Love em!

  15. Those are so unique!! I love drinking with straws!! I would be using these straws while I drink my smoothies!! Yumm!

  16. I would drink some iced coffee with a side of chocolate. I don’t know if this would be breakfast or an afternoon snack. Probably both. Btw I got the Bic bands on OpenSky too! They are incredibly awesome. Especially the glitter one =P

  17. Wooohooo! Love OpenSky! Love Annie’s Dressings!
Want the straws! Did I say Wooohooo yet? If not…Wooohooo! Ok ok I’d drink everything with them from water, iced coffee, green juices, Cullen juice, and Skinny Girl Margaritas. So cool that you are giving them away. :-)

  18. I would use these straws for an iced coffee — or maybe a margarita (but not at the same time — or would I??).

Awesome that Open Sky has such great customer service!

  19. I would most definitely drink chocolate milk with my new stainless steel straws!!!

  20. SJ

I’m in the process of getting rid of all plastic in my house which include my kids’ beloved plastic straws!

  21. Errign

Wow, so cool of you! I would use them for smoothies!

  22. Er

I would sip my homemade Arnold Palmers with these babies. And smoothies. And mixed drinks!

  23. What awesome straws! I love little luxuries like that, they make even mundane daily moments special and meaningful.

I would use them to drink Mexican Coke with real sugar :)

  24. ooo, this is a hard pick – strawberry lemonade (eeking out the last bit of summer!) or a green juice smoothie!

  25. This might sound silly, but water. I drink a ton of water and yet, there’s something different and refreshing about drinking a “plain ol’ glass” of anything with a straw….especially if it has ice.

If you want something different, then I’ll go with lemonade…but after that drink is over, I’m switching this straw over to my large glass of water that’s always next to my computer, hehe.

  26. Gianna Patton

I would definitely use these for my iced coffee and my daughter’s morning smoothie! What a marvelous idea! =)
