Sunday morning triumph

I am the queen of sleeping in. Pre-real world, I could sleep until 2 p.m. easy. Even though now during the workweek I wake up at 6 a.m. , on the weekends I could sleep forever. Usually I am awoken around 9 or 10 by Parko kisses or Kevin, who are both awful at sleeping in.

I just never got bit by that “get-up-at-the-crack-of-dawn-and-start-your-day” bug, even though it would make my weekends way more productive. This contributes to why I work out after work as well.

This morning I decided to break that cycle. I have a busy Sunday planned with a trip to the Farmer’s Market, groceries, laundry and attempt number two at attending a local food truck bazaar.

I woke up at 7 a.m. for my Sunday workout and decided to take advantage of the time by going for a run outside.

Good Morning

Due to the Florida summer season lasting eight months, I can’t remember the last time I did a run off the treadmill and it felt really great. I need to learn how to pace myself better, but it felt nice to have the scenery change and not to be in a crowded, stuffy gym.

I got home before I’d normally even be awake, and even though I realize hundreds of people run every morning, I felt really proud of myself. I felt like the guy in the Gatorade G Series commercial (which features fellow Gator Ryan Lochte).

Post Run

Now I’m tackling laundry before heading to the Farmer’s Market. Happy Sunday!

What time do you usually wake up when you don’t have work or school? When do you typically work out on those days? I’m definitely not committing to not sleeping in next weekend, but feel free to send some wake-up motivation my way!

P.S. I have added an index page (link above the banner). It has a list of all my restaurant reviews, recipes, travels and event recaps. Check it out if you’re looking for dinner inspiration!

  1. I usually wake up between 8-9 on the weekends, which i technically sleeping in considering I’m up at like 6 during the week :) and I’ve found if I don’t get my workout in earlier in the day on the weekends, I won’t do it! So i should probably get on that now!

  2. Awesome job waking up and running :) Although I do naturally wake up early, I never even dream of working out in the mornings. It’s just NOT something that ends up happening haha

  3. I sometimes, get up at 5 am, just to get it all done and have a nap by 8 am. #breakthecycle!

  4. Great job on getting out early for a run! I’m like you and I wait til later in the day for my workouts, but I love it when I actually get it done in the morning. Enjoy the farmers market!!

Awesome job! AM workouts are my fave :)

  6. Woohoo congrats! That’s what I did yesterday, it was awesome :)

  7. Hee – I might have ran down that same street today (all brick roads in Orlando/Winter Park look similar though). Awesome job getting up and running! I tell ya – nothing beats an awesome morning run outside. Sometimes I forget that I actually worked out.

  8. I wake up around 5 when I have to work…yay early morning clients!
Doesn’t it feel great to get out there and sweat before most people are waking up? :D

  9. Awesome job! I too am not a morning person, I can’t seem to get up before 9am on weekends for the life of me! This makes my long run days (Saturdays typically) difficult. I shoot for 7am on those days because anything earlier may kill me…though I know once I get around the 20 mile mark I’ll have to wake up way earlier. Oh the joys of running! :)

  10. Nice job on getting that done first thing! I love morning workouts, well after at least, you feel so accomplished for the day :)
I wake up around 7 most days of the week, despite what I have to do. Earlier if necessary of course!

  11. Yay! Great job! I used to not be a morning person at all. But with the job I have, I have to wake up at 5 each morning. I can’t really sleep past 8 anymore unless I force myself. I love sleeping in and staying up late though! I typically work out in the afternoon (after work) at the gym too. It’s so hot here!! But on my days off I enjoy getting it over with so I will workout in the morning!

PS-I loving your food reviews and super excited to try them out!!

Good job getting out there and running!
I’m definitely a morning person. I like to wake up and tackle my workouts first thing in the morning. I’m a teacher, so the Summer is great for that. During the school year I have to do my workouts after work, which is tough because my motivation is usually lacking by then. But on the weekends I usually wake up around 8 and then head to the gym.

I try to wake up on the weekends pretty early–by 7:30 or so—and work out before I do anything else (besides coffee!)—otherwise I know I’ll be much less likely to complete a workout!

  14. I love getting up early at the weekend- you get so much done. But sometimes a well deserved afternoon nap is required!
